The Assessment
Our team carried out a full inspection, which included:
• Full CCTV drainage survey to identify lateral connections
• CAT scanning to locate underground services
• Inspection of manholes to confirm depths and site measurements

The Solution
The findings confirmed that the property’s private drainage was being overwhelmed by
backflow from the surrounding drainage system. To protect the property from future flooding, a complete flip pump installation was
designed and carried out.
Key Steps
1. Excavation of a shaft within the front garden
2. Installation of a new chamber and a new sewer connection.
3. Installation of the pump: Model: Jung Pumpen Compli 1210/4 BW (Flip Pump)
4. Diversion of the existing drainage system into the new chamber, with the previous rear connection safely decommissioned and sealed.
5. To achieve the diversion, a new drainage route was created. The team hand-dug a trench through the narrow alleyway to carry the drainage from the back of the house to the front garden, where it was connected to the new chamber/pump.
6. Full system testing and commissioning to ensure reliable operation and effective backflow protection.

The Result
All previous flooding issues have been fully resolved. The system's pump now automatically removes excess water quickly and efficiently, ensuring the home remains fully protected even during periods of heavy rainfall and sewer surcharge. As a result of these improvements, no further backflow incidents have been reported.
