NRV Shallow Installation
The Problem
The property was experiencing backflow from the public sewer, resulting in repeated internal flooding.

Client
Water Board
Property Type:
Residential House
Location:
Shepherd’s Bush, London
The Assessment
Our team carried out a full inspection, which included:
- Conducting CCTV surveys of the drainage pipes and connections
- CAT scanning the area to identify existing underground services
- Taking precise measurements to ensure a suitable non-return valve could be installed
- Producing a detailed report based on our findings

The Solution
Based on our assessment, we determined that installing a non-return valve (NRV) within the existing inspection chamber was the most effective and cost-efficient solution.
Key Steps
1. Cutting the inspection chamber channel.
2. Breaking out the chamber to allow sufficient space for the NRV installation.
3. Installing the new non-return valve.
4. Reinstating concrete around the NRV and reforming the chamber benching.
5. Installing two new access steps within the chamber

The Result
The newly installed non-return valve system was fully tested and commissioned to confirm
reliable operation and effective backflow prevention.
Installing the non-return valve successfully prevented further flooding, with no additional
incidents reported. Using the existing inspection chamber avoided the need for costly excavation in the public carriageway, resulting in significant cost savings for the client.
