Sewage Lifting Unit Upgrade

The Problem

The existing Jung Compli 400 sewage lifting station had been in service for approximately 15 years and was experiencing minor ongoing issues. Access to the tank was extremely restricted due to poorly routed pipework, making maintenance and repairs difficult. Additionally, the property had originally been a single dwelling but had since been converted into multiple flats, placing increased demand on a system that was no longer adequately sized.

The Assessment

Our team carried out a full inspection, which included:

- CCTV surveying of the drainage system

- Gas monitoring, as the chamber was classified as a confined space

- Dye testing of laterals and pipe connections

- Taking precise measurements to confirm suitability for an upgraded lifting station

- Producing a detailed report identifying faults, access restrictions, and installation constraints

The Solution

Following our assessment, we recommended upgrading the existing Compli 400 flip pump
to a larger Jung Compli 1010 unit. To achieve this safely and effectively, a full removal and
rerouting of the existing pipework was required to improve access for both installation and
future maintenance.

Key Steps

1. CAT scanning the area, followed by breaking out the existing frame and lintels.

2. Cutting out all existing pipework and rerouting it to improve access and functionality.

3. Installing the Jung Compli 1010 lifting unit, sump, and associated pipework.

4. Installing new access steps, concreting and benching the chamber, and adding two
additional courses of brickwork to improve chamber height and access.

The Result

The upgraded pump system and all associated pipework were fully tested and commissioned to confirm correct operation and reliable long-term performance. The installation was completed successfully with no issues reported. Rerouting the pipework significantly improved access for future maintenance and repairs, ensuring the upgraded system is both reliable and serviceable for years to come.
